Heinz P. Bloch, P.E., holds BSME and MSME degrees from the New Jersey Institute of Technology. He has written or co-authored over 700 articles and conference papers, including 20 full-length texts (45 Editions, some in foreign languages). He is an ASME Life Fellow and was awarded a life-time Professional Engineer’s License in New Jersey. He looks back on 57 years of experience, including a long technical career with the Exxon Corporation. He now resides in Houston/TX, but continues to advise process plants worldwide on reliability improvement and maintenance cost avoidance issues.

Biographic Highlights: Born in 1933, Germany. US Army Service 1955-1957. BSME, MSME ?(cum laude), New Jersey Institute of Technology (1962). Owner/Principal of Process Machinery Consulting Co., which conducts training courses and consulting services worldwide. Recent work has been primarily in root cause failure identification, lubrication techniques, machinery repair cost reduction, and failure avoidance strategies. Formerly involved in design of high-speed machinery with Johnson & Johnson (1962-1964), and all aspects of machinery at Exxon Corporation (1965-1986). Retired from position as Exxon Chemicals’ USA Regional Machinery Specialist after line and senior staff assignments that included tours of duty in Italy, Spain, England, The Netherlands and Japan. Over 500 course presentations and/or troubleshooting and reliability improvement missions to most Exxon affiliate companies and to 43 different countries in Asia, Australia, Europe, Africa and North and South America. Provided litigation support in 58 component selection and lube-related machinery failures in US and International Courts of Arbitration, Washington, D.C. and London, UK.
Other Assignments and Publication Credits: Reliability Editor of Hydrocarbon Processing Magazine since 1990. Coordinator/Organizer of yearly International Process Plant Reliability Conferences 1992-2003.?
